Bob Le Flambeur
Everyone in backstreet Paris knows Bob, and in some way, Bob takes care of all of them. Bob is a conman gone straight after prison time served some 20 years ago. Always a gambler, Bob loses everything one day at the races and the casino, thus deciding to put into action one last heist before permanent retirement. Unseen for years, the film became legendary and has long since been acknowledged as both a huge influence on the French New Wave and directors as diverse as Godard, Scorsese, Tarantino and Paul Thomas Anderson. BOB LE FLAMBEUR stars Roger Duchesne in the title role, alongside Isabelle Corey, Daniel Cauchy and Guy Decomble. Melville went onto direct Alain Delon in both Le Samourai and Le Cercle Rouge (The Red Circle) – soon to be remade by John Woo, another Melville aficionado.
